The Local’s Guide to Lake Cumberland Boat Ramps Near Jamestown, KY
Lake Cumberland isn’t just a lake; it’s 63,000 acres of open water, hidden coves, and world-class fishing. But for an RVer hauling a boat, the biggest challenge isn’t being on the water—it’s getting to it. Choosing the wrong ramp can mean steep grades, tight turns, or nowhere to park your rig.
At Old Chimney RV Park, we are located right in the heart of “Boating Country.” Here is our local’s guide to the best boat ramps near Jamestown to help you launch with confidence.
1. Halcomb’s Landing (The Big Rig Choice)
Located just before you cross the Wolf Creek Dam, Halcomb’s Landing is one of the most popular ramps on the lake for a reason. It is massive, paved, and has ample parking for both your truck and trailer.
- Distance from Old Chimney: Approx. 8-10 minutes.
- The Perk: Multiple launch lanes mean you rarely have to wait long, even on busy holiday weekends.
2. Jamestown Marina (Safe Harbor)
If you want a full-service experience, Jamestown Marina is the place to be. This is a paved, high-capacity ramp with a courtesy dock that makes loading the family onto the boat a breeze.
- Distance from Old Chimney: Less than 10 minutes via KY-92.
- The Perk: There’s a ship store and restaurant (Lakers Tap & Grill) right there for your post-lake burger and fries.
3. Lily Creek Boat Ramp
A bit more secluded than the main marinas, Lily Creek is a great option if you want to get away from the heavy houseboat traffic. It’s paved and offers year-round access.
- Distance from Old Chimney: Approx. 5-7 minutes.
- The Perk: Great access to some of the quieter fishing coves on the southern end of the lake.
4. Lake Cumberland State Resort Park Ramp
Located inside the State Park, this ramp is very well-maintained but can get extremely crowded during peak season. It’s a beautiful drive, but be prepared for traffic.
